Location: The Mall Luton, 2021. Big Trunk Trail
Visitors explored Luton like never before by following a trail of giant elephants, all uniquely decorated. These stunning sculptures trumpeted along the free, fun and family-friendly art trail around Luton’s key landmarks, streets and open spaces, bringing together the community for one unforgettable jumbo event. The trail celebrated 30 years of Keech Hospice Care, who provide much-needed specialist care.
The process
I created lots of layers of spray paint texture and speckles using mostly shades of purples and blues. In total I used 20 different colour shades including white and silver for the stars.
One the purple side I used royal blue and metallic blue colours for the shapes and on the blue side of the elephant, I used sky blue and metallic bronze colours to create the free flow spiral shapes. I covered the entire sculpture in glitter and love how it turned out! It looks amazing in the sun!
“Nebula’ is a reminder that patterns can be found across nature, from plants and forests all the way across the skies above. This piece was inspired by nebulas and galaxies."
